NACUFS Show Feedback

Booth traffic was steady and operator feedback to Foodservice Rewards was positive at NACUFS

This week’s NACUFS show was marked by steady traffic of operators visiting Sponsors’ booths asking “what’s new”?

Even without much FSR signage at sponsors’ booths (exceptions being Kraft, Basic American and Barber foods) awareness of and participation in Foodservice Rewards was very high and bonus point gift cards where a hit.

Opinions of operators echoed those of Corey Wilkinson, Dining Services Cash Operations Manager, at Haverford College, who pulled me aside to say how he liked the new website – especially the ease of navigation and the new rewards selection which he had trouble accessing before the redesign.

When asked “what can we be doing to improve the program?” C&U operators’ number one request was for reward code scanners. (Here’s a fact sheet describing how to order them. BI fulfills scanners directly to operators with your supplied inserts so we can track activity and avoid sending duplicates.)

The second most common request was for more program sponsors. Yeah, we’re working on that!

Procter’s NRA Concert

While Jackson Browne was a big part of the draw, the way P&G positions their NRA concert as exclusive attracts more customers than a booth featuring Mr. Clean…

Procter & Gamble’s Jackson Browne concert at the 2007 NRA show was a superb alternative to exhibiting. It allowed P&G’s customers to sample products, salespeople to interact 1-on-1 with hundreds of selectively invited customers and prospects and produced a better ROI than trolling for random booth traffic on the show floor.

"What’s New?" at NRA

Driving booth traffic at NRA is the objective of these pre-show emails and banners…

Bonus Point Gift Cards feature prominently in this year’s pre-National Restaurant Show communications designed to drive operators to sponsors’ booths.

SNA & NACUFS show fee options

By popular demand, operators may now redeem their Foodservice Rewards points for NACUFS and SNA show fees

You asked for it, you got it: Operators can now redeem their points for SNA and NACUFS show fees via the online awards album.

JFYI, the additional 2,500+ merchandise selections and 3,000+ auctioned items are updated by our trend buyers throughout the year to ensure that your operators have access to the “hottest” rewards in the marketplace.

New Support Materials for Trade Shows

Foodservice Rewards floor mats for trade shows are proving to be a popular item…

Thanks to all sponsors who “showed the colors” at NACUFS in Toronto. This new floor mat (modeled at left by Hans Kohte) was especially popular and will soon be available via the Materials Request Form.

No NRA ’06 for John & Tiger

“Just saying no” to the NRA show this year…

John and I won’t be able to attend NRA this year. John and Wendy are expecting their first child in May – congratulate him.

I’ll be watching our son while my wife and daughter go on an all-expense paid National Geographic Expedition to the Galapagos islands.

I was a New Orleans virgin until NACUFS

Purdue University is sitting on 10,000 codes and the Foodservice Director didn’t know he could mail-in or get a scanner…

The National College and University Foodservice show was held this week in New Orleans.

Insights: Purdue University is sitting on 10,000 codes. The Foodservice Director didn’t know he could mail-in or get a scanner. I wonder how many other Group Feeders have the same issue?

Perhaps it’s time to send this segment post-paid collection envelopes. That, and create a 20 or 30 code-at-a-time entry screen.

We also have to work the Sponsors’ trade show contacts harder to get signage up at shows.

The new freestanding signs will be a big help. The Value Plus sponsors had excellent execution and a booth that drew traffic and were signing up operators.
